Donyell Malen's rapid scoring form at Roma has prompted Italian media to place a significantly higher valuation on the forward, according to Birmingham Live. The Dutch attacker completed a permanent move to the Serie A side during the summer transfer window after initially joining on loan in January.
Malen scored 14 league goals during the second half of last season, prompting Roma to trigger the purchase obligation in his loan agreement. He has carried that momentum into the current campaign, finding the net six times across five matches in all competitions.
Birmingham Live cites reports in Italy suggesting Roma currently value the forward between €60m (£51m) and €80m (£68m). However, the publication also references ASRomaLive, via Sport Witness, who claim the Italian club's actual asking price sits above €80m given his recent performances.
The outlet adds that should Premier League clubs attempt to sign him when the transfer window reopens in January 2027, his valuation could potentially reach €100m (£85m). Roma are said to be under no pressure to sell, competing in the Champions League this season.
Aston Villa originally signed Malen for £22m and received a £2m loan fee before his £25m permanent departure was confirmed earlier this year. He made 46 appearances for the club, scoring 10 goals.
Roma manager Gian Piero Gasperini recently praised the forward's technical ability near goal. "The first touch, with which he creates space," Gasperini said. "With the second he prepares, with the third he fires."
Gasperini added that if Malen threatens Gonzalo Higuain's single-season Serie A record of 36 goals, he would not be surprised. When reflecting on the player's exit from Villa Park, Unai Emery noted that Malen wanted a more central role, stating: "The player was happy and he was being a protagonist, but not enough like he wanted."
