Aston Villa Women were defeated 4-1 at home by Manchester City in the Women's Super League on Saturday 13 September. The loss leaves Villa searching for early momentum while their visitors continue to set the pace at the top of the table.
BBC Sport reported that the victory made City the only team to win both of their opening two WSL fixtures this season, describing it as an impressive performance away from home.
The club published its own match report following the final whistle, before head coach Arroyo offered his assessment of the result in a separate update released the next day.
With the summer transfer window having closed on 1 September, Villa must work with their current squad to respond when league action resumes. No Premier League club can complete new signings until the January 2027 window opens.
