Aston Villa have been named among the clubs tracking Sturm Graz midfielder Luca Weinhandl, according to TEAMtalk, although Arsenal are said to be driving the pursuit ahead of the January transfer window. Brighton are also reported to hold an interest in the 17-year-old.
The outlet, citing a report from Caught Offside, claims Arsenal have compiled detailed scouting assessments on Weinhandl and are pushing to position themselves at the front of the queue. A fee in the region of £17m is suggested as sufficient to secure a deal, though TEAMtalk notes that discussions remain at an early stage.
With the summer window having closed on 1 September, no Premier League club can complete a signing until the market reopens on New Year's Day. Any potential move for the Austrian teenager is therefore a matter for the winter window at the earliest.
Villa's specific intentions regarding Weinhandl are not outlined in the report. The club has not commented on the speculation, and it remains unclear whether Unai Emery's recruitment team views him as a priority target or simply a player being monitored alongside several others across Europe.
