The outlet published remarks on 6 September from former Aston Villa scout Mick Brown, who suggested the manager should address reported behind-the-scenes issues at the club.
Villa have failed to score in their first three league matches of the season, with a goalless draw against Hull City the latest result to prompt scrutiny. Brown told Football Insider that losing important figures such as Ollie Watkins and Emiliano Martinez during the transfer window was always likely to make the early weeks challenging.
The summer window closed on 1 September, meaning no Premier League club can complete further signings until the January 2027 window opens at the start of the year. Despite several arrivals over the course of the window, Brown argued that the scale of the departures has left visible gaps in the squad.
Speaking to the publication, Brown said he found it surprising that Emery had not spoken more openly about the changes made to his team. He suggested that if the manager was unhappy with how the squad had been reshaped, supporters would expect to hear that view expressed directly.
