Jadon Sancho remains without a club more than two weeks after the summer transfer window closed, following Aston Villa's decision not to offer him a permanent contract. The 26-year-old winger spent last season on loan at Villa Park after leaving Manchester United, whose deal with him expired at the end of June.
According to Football Insider, Villa were given the opportunity to retain Sancho but walked away because of his wage demands. Instead, Unai Emery's side secured Alejandro Garnacho on a season-long loan from Chelsea before the deadline passed on 1 September.
Birmingham Live reports that a return to Borussia Dortmund has also been ruled out. Manager Niko Kovac told reporters ahead of his side's recent victory over SC Paderborn that the German club already possess a large squad containing 26 outfield players and therefore have no need to pursue the forward. Dortmund had been linked with Sancho after Giannis Konstantelias suffered a cruciate ligament injury, but they addressed that gap by securing Arsenal teenager Ethan Nwaneri on a temporary basis late in the window.
With European options narrowing, Football Insider states that Sancho's representatives are currently in discussions with several Premier League clubs. Sides in Turkey, Brazil, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates are also said to be monitoring his availability, although the outlet notes he is not expected to commit to a destination imminently and will take time to weigh up his choices.
Because the English transfer window is now shut until 1 January 2027, any Premier League club wishing to sign him would have to wait until then, unless they take advantage of free-agent regulations outside the standard registration periods. No top-flight move can be completed under normal window rules at present.
In the meantime, Birmingham Live reports that Dubai-based club Arabian Falcons have extended an invitation to Sancho and other unattached players to train with their squad. Managed by former Liverpool midfielder Jonjo Shelvey, the club says it wants to help free agents maintain match sharpness while they search for their next employer.
