Aston Villa began their 2026-27 Premier League season with an away trip to Brighton on Sunday 24 August, as detailed by Sports Mole in a broadcast guide published three weeks ago. The fixture took place at the Amex Stadium with a 2pm kick-off and was televised live on Sky Sports.
Unai Emery guided his squad into the new campaign following a fourth-placed finish last term, a result that secured Champions League football for the club. Brighton, meanwhile, ended the previous Premier League table in eighth position.
The corresponding meeting between the two sides last season produced seven goals, with Villa emerging victorious by a 4-3 scoreline. Supporters in the United Kingdom could follow the latest contest via Sky Go, the Now TV sports package, or the broadcaster's dedicated app.
BBC One also scheduled highlights of the weekend's action within its Match of the Day programme later that evening. Additional clips were made available through various online platforms operated by the rights holders.
Brighton arrived at the match shortly after playing out a goalless stalemate against Norwegian opposition in European qualifying. Their focus, however, had shifted entirely to domestic matters ahead of facing Emery's team.
Although Villa experienced several notable squad departures during the summer transfer window, which closed on 1 September, the Spanish head coach remained at the helm to oversee the start of the new league campaign.
