Football Insider urges Villa to pursue three more signings after Nicolas Jackson arrival

A pundit has called for further additions following a summer that saw nine players arrive at Villa Park, though the window is now shut until January.

Football Insider published a column on 29 August urging Aston Villa to target three further players of full international standard following a heavily reshaped squad. The piece argued that additional experience was required after a summer of significant turnover at Villa Park.

According to the report, nine players arrived during the window, with Nicolas Jackson and Ibrahim Mbaye named among the incomings. Ezri Konsa was cited as one of the notable departures from the club during the same period.

The publication framed its argument around the idea that the recent recruitment drive, while extensive, left gaps that only seasoned internationals could fill. No specific targets were identified beyond the general call for higher-calibre additions.

Any such ambitions will have to wait regardless. The summer transfer window closed on 1 September, meaning no Premier League club can register new signings until the January 2027 window opens at the start of the year.

Villa have not commented publicly on the suggestion that further business is required. The club’s focus now shifts entirely to working with the squad assembled before the deadline passed.
