The publication framed its argument around the idea that the recent recruitment drive, while extensive, left gaps that only seasoned internationals could fill. No specific targets were identified beyond the general call for higher-calibre additions.
Any such ambitions will have to wait regardless. The summer transfer window closed on 1 September, meaning no Premier League club can register new signings until the January 2027 window opens at the start of the year.
Villa have not commented publicly on the suggestion that further business is required. The club’s focus now shifts entirely to working with the squad assembled before the deadline passed.
