Aston Villa were quoted £69 million for Como midfielder Martin Baturina during the summer transfer window, according to TEAMtalk. The report, first published on 11 September, states that Villa offered €55m (£47m) for the player but were told by the Italian club that they would not accept less than €80m (£69m).
Baturina has started the season strongly, registering three goals and two assists. He wrote himself into Como's history books this week by scoring their first-ever Champions League goal and providing an assist in the same match. TEAMtalk notes that his current form could push his valuation even higher than the figure quoted in the summer.
With the transfer window having closed on 1 September, no Premier League club can complete a signing until January 2027. Villa instead reinforced their attack with 11 arrivals before the deadline, including Johan Manzambi and Alejandro Garnacho.
One of those new additions, Nicolas Jackson, opened his account for the club in Tuesday night's Champions League victory over Club Brugge. Jackson and fellow newcomer Zion Suzuki have been highlighted as the most successful of the summer intake so far.
TEAMtalk also reports, via Sport Witness, that Villa enquired about Athletico Paranaense forward Kevin Viveros during the window. The Colombian striker, who has scored 17 goals in 25 Brazilian Serie A appearances in 2026, is said to have had offers of €20m (£17m) rejected by his club, who now value him between €30m and €40m after he agreed a new contract. Sunderland are also said to have asked questions about Viveros, though TEAMtalk suggests Villa are unlikely to revisit that interest following Jackson's arrival.
