The outlet cites reporting from ESPN Brazil, which states that Villa’s interest failed to advance because of the financial terms set by the north London club.
Tottenham reportedly wanted £30m to part with the forward, despite his existing deal having just twelve months left to run. Spurs do hold an option to extend that agreement by a further year, which may explain their willingness to maintain such a firm valuation even late in the window.
Villa ultimately brought in Nicolas Jackson during the window, adding to centre-forward options that already include Tammy Abraham and Brian Madjo. ESPN Brazil does not clarify whether the enquiry about Richarlison came before or after the Jackson deal was completed, leaving it uncertain whether the Brazilian was viewed as an alternative or a potential additional signing.
Richarlison had expressed a desire to leave Tottenham, yet remained at the club when the Premier League deadline passed. With domestic business now concluded until January 2027, attention has shifted overseas, where transfer windows remain open.
Trabzonspor are now said to have reached a verbal agreement with the player. Reports suggest clubs in Turkey, Qatar and Saudi Arabia were identified as realistic destinations capable of meeting both Tottenham’s asking price and the striker’s wage demands.
