Football Insider claimed on 10 September that Aston Villa brought in Chelsea forward Nicolas Jackson in a deal worth £65m during the summer transfer window.
According to the same report, the arrival followed the departure of Ollie Watkins, who is said to have joined Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal.
The publication described both pieces of business as surprising moves that raised eyebrows among observers of the club's recruitment strategy.
Because the summer window shut on 1 September, any such transaction involving Jackson would already have been finalised before the deadline passed.
Premier League clubs cannot register new signings until the next window opens on 1 January 2027, so no further additions are possible in the immediate term.
Aston Villa have not publicly commented on the claims made by Football Insider regarding either player.
