Aston Villa have confirmed their playing numbers for the current campaign following a summer of heavy recruitment. Birmingham Live reported on 2 September that ten arrivals have been integrated into the first-team setup since the window shut on deadline day.
Among the most notable allocations, Taylor Harwood-Bellis has been handed the number four shirt, while Ibrahim Mbaye will wear nineteen. Both players were finalised as the ninth and tenth additions to the squad just before the registration cutoff.
The famous number nine jersey currently sits empty. Shirts fifteen, sixteen, twenty-one and twelve are similarly unassigned, and will remain so until the market reopens at the start of next year.
Several high-profile acquisitions have secured their preferred digits. Alejandro Garnacho takes seventeen, Aaron Wan-Bissaka wears twenty-nine and Matteo Ruggeri has been given thirteen. Johan Manzambi is listed at forty-four, Joao Gomes at thirty-five and Zion Suzuki at one.
Further down the roster, Leon Goretzka operates from twenty-seven, Ian Maatsen from twenty-two and Marco Bizot between the sticks at forty. Tammy Abraham continues in eighteen, flanked by established names such as John McGinn at seven and Pau Torres at fourteen.
With the summer window now firmly closed, no Premier League club can complete fresh registrations until 1 January 2027. That leaves Unai Emery to work with this expanded group through the autumn and winter months.
The absence of a traditional centre-forward number may invite questions about future recruitment plans. For now, though, the focus shifts entirely to integrating a significantly altered squad on the pitch.
