According to The Mirror, his loan agreement with Chelsea includes a conditional obligation to make the move permanent, believed to be tied to the number of matches he plays. That structure places extra importance on every opportunity he gets between now and the end of the campaign, though no deal can be completed until the transfer window reopens in January 2027.
Unai Emery has spoken positively about the 22-year-old's work behind the scenes. The head coach noted after recent fixtures that he is seeing improvement in each training session and believes consistency will come with more minutes on the pitch. Emery added that attitude and daily demands are the most important factors in his development at the club.
A facial injury sustained during pre-season delayed his integration into the squad and ruled him out of August's UEFA Super Cup defeat to Paris Saint-Germain. Since returning, he has totalled 31 minutes across three league outings, with teenager George Hemmings preferred ahead of him in the starting eleven.
Villa captain John McGinn has cautioned that adapting to Emery's methods requires patience. He described the tactical setup as demanding and unique, involving significant classroom work rather than a conventional formation, and acknowledged that new arrivals need time to adjust to those specific requirements.
Wednesday's cup tie offers a clear opening. With rotation expected against Coventry City, Garnacho could finally be handed a run-out from the first whistle. A strong performance would strengthen his case for involvement when Villa visit Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday lunchtime.
