Aston Villa linked with Athletico Paranaense striker Kevin Viveros

Sport Witness reports that Aston Villa were among the Premier League clubs to enquire about Athletico Paranaense forward Kevin Viveros ahead of the summer transfer window, which closed on 1 September without a deal materialising.

According to the outlet, Sunderland also asked questions about the 26-year-old, who has scored 18 times in the Brazilian top flight this season to sit as the competition's outright leading scorer.

Viveros has since earned his first call-up to the Colombia national team, with matches against Mexico, Paraguay and Peru scheduled during the current international break, followed by two fixtures against Chile in November.

Sport Witness notes that any English club pursuing the striker would need him to satisfy the Football Association's Governing Body Endorsement requirements, a points-based system where 15 points are needed for clearance.

International appearances for Colombia could contribute towards that total, depending on the country's FIFA ranking and how many senior minutes Viveros accumulates over the relevant period. His regular playing time in Brazil's Band 2-rated league also helps build points under the current framework.

Across all competitions, the publication states he has recorded 19 goals and four assists in 32 outings for Athletico Paranaense, averaging a league goal every 127 minutes.

With the transfer window now closed until 1 January 2027, no Premier League club can complete a signing before then. Aston Villa have not commented on the report.
