Aston Villa linked with renewed interest in Bayern Munich defender Kim Min-jae

Aston Villa are said to be monitoring Bayern Munich centre-back Kim Min-jae ahead of a potential approach when the transfer window reopens. According to Birmingham Live, the club made enquiries about the defender during the summer before the deadline passed on 1 September.

Christian Falk, football chief at the German publication Bild, believes Villa could revive their pursuit. He stated that the player was already on the club's radar earlier this year and that enquiries were made, though nothing materialised before business closed.

Falk added that the South Korean international remains a topic for the future, suggesting another attempt could come once Premier League clubs are permitted to trade again in January 2027.

Kim currently has two years remaining on his deal in Bavaria, with no fresh negotiations understood to be under way. That timeline means he would enter the final twelve months of his agreement by next summer, potentially altering his availability.

Despite arriving from Napoli in 2023 and accumulating a substantial number of outings for the German champions, the defender has struggled to cement a starting role this term. He has featured only five times in the Bundesliga so far, most recently during a heavy victory against Union Berlin earlier in September.

He also crossed paths with Unai Emery's side during pre-season, finding the net in a friendly between the two clubs. Any future move would require Villa to return to the market when registration rules allow new signings to be completed.
