Aston Villa come from behind to beat Tottenham at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Aston Villa claimed a 3-2 Premier League victory over Tottenham Hotspur at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Johan Manzambi opened the scoring just before half-time, with Nicolas Jackson and Emiliano Buendía adding further goals to put the visitors firmly in control. Conor Gallagher and Jan Paul van Hecke struck late consolation goals for the hosts.

Manzambi was among the most influential performers for Unai Emery's side, registering four shots and providing an assist alongside his goal. Buendía completed the full ninety minutes and finished with the highest individual rating in the Villa line-up, while Jackson also found the net during his eighty-eight minutes on the pitch.

Boubacar Kamara and John McGinn each supplied an assist from midfield, both playing eighty-four minutes before being withdrawn. Aaron Wan-Bissaka started the match but made way at the interval, with Matty Cash taking over for the second period.

Spurs head coach Roberto De Zerbi lamented his team's inability to convert first-half dominance into goals. Speaking to TNT Sports, he acknowledged that his players created numerous opportunities before the interval but failed to remain sufficiently concentrated defensively when reduced to ten men briefly in added time.

The Italian accepted personal responsibility for his side's struggles in front of goal. He stressed that his squad must work harder and develop greater resilience, particularly when defending set-piece situations or dealing with numerical disadvantages during a match.

De Zerbi also addressed growing speculation about his position, noting that calls for his dismissal have intensified on social media. The defeat leaves Tottenham in the relegation zone heading into the international break, despite significant summer investment by the club's board.

Villa now turn their attention to Brentford, who visit Villa Park on Saturday 10 October for their next Premier League fixture. Today's result builds on Wednesday's 3-1 League Cup success at the Coventry Building Society Arena and last weekend's Champions League win at Club Brugge.
