Tottenham welcome back key trio ahead of Villa visit

Roberto De Zerbi has confirmed that Sandro Tonali, Pedro Porro and James Maddison are all available for Tottenham Hotspur's Premier League match against Aston Villa on Saturday. TEAMtalk reports that the Spurs manager addressed the fitness of the trio during his pre-match media duties ahead of the 12:30 kick-off at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Tonali missed the midweek Carabao Cup defeat at Liverpool, while Porro has been sidelined for the past two matches with what the club described as a minor muscular issue. De Zerbi told reporters that all three players are ready to feature, though he added that final decisions would depend on an assessment of their physical condition.

The returns come at a difficult moment for Tottenham, who have failed to score in their opening four Premier League fixtures this season. De Zerbi highlighted Maddison's passing qualities and experience as distinct from others in his squad, noting that Mateus Fernandes can operate as a number ten but needs to be more decisive in the final third.

De Zerbi also provided an update on Dejan Kulusevski, who has not played since May 2025. The Swedish playmaker returned to training this week after overcoming a small setback, and the manager indicated that the upcoming international break would help him edge closer to full fitness.

Aston Villa head into the weekend fixture following a 3-1 victory over Coventry City in the League Cup on Wednesday evening. Unai Emery's side will be looking to build on that result when they travel to north London for the early Saturday lunchtime start.
