He described Emery as completely safe regardless of the outcome this weekend, pointing out that the Spaniard retains strong institutional support even while results have been inconsistent.

Current betting markets place Michael Carrick as the most likely candidate to be the next Premier League manager dismissed, with Emery well down the list at odds of ten-to-one. Those numbers suggest the wider football industry expects the Villa hierarchy to remain patient.
