Clinton Morrison praises Zion Suzuki after Villa win at Tottenham

Aston Villa goalkeeper Zion Suzuki drew praise from pundit Clinton Morrison following his display in last Saturday's 3-2 Premier League victory over Tottenham Hotspur. Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live's Football Daily podcast, the former Crystal Palace striker suggested that Suzuki made three or four outstanding saves during an opening period in which the hosts dominated possession.

According to TEAMtalk, Morrison argued that Roberto De Zerbi's side were the better team in the first half at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium but could not find a way past the Japanese shot-stopper. The comments come amid growing scrutiny of Tottenham, who sit bottom of the Premier League with just two points from their opening five fixtures despite significant summer spending.

Suzuki joined Villa from Parma in August and has quickly established himself between the posts. His contributions were central to securing all three points in north London, where Villa recorded their second league win of the campaign after also beating Nottingham Forest earlier in the month.

Morrison went on to predict that Tottenham will eventually find their rhythm and warned they could inflict heavy defeats once their attacking players start converting chances consistently. He did, however, point to defensive frailties and a lack of a proven centre-forward as immediate concerns for De Zerbi, who has been given a week off by the club ahead of their next fixture on 10 October.

For Unai Emery's squad, attention now turns to the visit of Brentford to Villa Park on Saturday 10 October, followed by a Champions League meeting with Fenerbahçe four days later.
