Signed from SC Freiburg for £52 million, the 20-year-old has made a single league start but used it to become the first Villa player to register both a goal and an assist on his Premier League debut. Nicolas Jackson is described as Unai Emery's preferred striking option, while Tammy Abraham chose to stay at the club despite interest from elsewhere in the division.

Beyond individual assessments, the article looks ahead to areas that might require attention once the transfer window reopens in January. Birmingham Live points out that Mings will be without a deal beyond this season, and that Torres has already stated his intention to move on when his current agreement concludes in two years. The suggestion is that Emery could look for a younger left-sided central defender either in the winter or before next autumn to ensure adequate preparation time.
